Iowa Testing - 3rd Grade and Up

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 4th, 2026-May 8th, 2026

Our Teacher Appreciation Committee, comprised entirely of parent volunteers, sets up treats and games in appreciation of our wonderful teachers and staff.

Earth Week

April 27th, 2026-May 1st, 2026

Each classroom prepares a presentation to perform for the rest of the school in honor of our amazing planet. Examples of classroom presentations include songs, pieces of art, and the “Trashion Show” where students show off projects made entirely of recycled materials.

International Night

April 17th, 2026
5:30 pm-7:30pm

Students, their families, and staff come together to enjoy a festival celebrating the different nations of our world. Students present their research via individual and small-group projects, and the whole school enjoys a community potluck of international dishes prepared by MCS families.

Community Workday

April 11th, 2026
9:00 am-1:00 pm

Families, Staff, and Students come together on these workdays to do various tasks around the campus to beautify the school, such as yard clean-up, repairs, or maintenance on equipment.

MCS is closed for Spring Break from March 30th-April 3rd. Students return to school April 7th.

MEPI Conference
March, 13th 2026

MCS Teachers will be attending the annual 2026 MEPI (Montessori Educational Programs International) Conference.

This conference brings Montessori professionals together for training opportunities that share resources, inspire new classroom ideas, and build community among educators, support staff, and school directors committed to Montessori pedagogy.

Spring Break Closure

 

MCS will be closed from March 30 – April 3 for Spring Break.

Staff will return on April 6 for a teacher workday.
Students will return on April 7.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing break!

MCS will be closed from Dec 21st- Jan 2nd. Staff will return on Jan 3rd, and students will return on Jan 6th.

We would like to wish all of our MCS Families a very happy, healthy holiday season! Have a wonderful winter break with your loved ones and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2025! 

ATTENTION MCS FAMILIES/STAFF:

Due to the risk of severe weather, mcs will operate on a slightly earlier than half-day schedule for tuesday, 1/9/24. The early release schedule will be as follows:

ELEMENTARY – 11:15AM

PRIMARY – 11:30AM

STEPPING STONES – 11:45AM

*NO AFTER CARE ON 1/9/24

Happy Spring Break!

Montessori Children’s School & the MCS Office is closed for Spring Break from Mon., March 25- Fri., March 29, 2024.  The Office will reopen on Mon., April 1, 2024 and students return on Tues., April 2, 2024.
