Veteran's Day- No School

November 11, 2025

Montessori Children’s School will be closed November 11th, to observe Veteran’s Day.

Veterans Day is a U.S. holiday observed on November 11th to honor all military veterans who have served in the Armed Forces. It is a time to recognize their bravery, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting the nation.

 
 

Family Orientation

August 21, 2025
4:15 pm – 7:30pm

 

Session #1: 4:15pm-5:45pm**
Session #2: 6:00pm-7:30pm**
Orientation attendance is required for your child to start school on August 26th

Due to limited space, one adult from each family may attend one of the Orientation Sessions (this also applies to multi-household families). Please no children to include infants. Located at the Onslow County Public Library at 58 E Doris Ave., Jacksonville, NC. Sign up will be required to attend.

Family & Student Open House

August 25, 2025 
9:30 am-11:45 pm

On August 25th, students and their families are welcome to visit their classrooms and drop off items from the personal classroom supply list. This is also a great time to meet the teacher and the assistant. 

First Day of School (Half Day)

August 26-27, 2025

August 26th and 27th, is a half day for all students.

Pick Up Times are:
11:30am Elementary, 11:45am Primary, 12:00pm Stepping Stones

Please note, there is no after care on this date. 

Family/ Child Night

November 7, 2025
5:30 pm-7:00 pm

You are invited to our first Family/Child Night of the 2025-2026 school year, today, Friday, November 7th, from 5:30-7:00 pm! This is a very special time for MCS students to show their family a few lessons they are currently working on. Some classrooms may have specific time slots to sign up for. See your child‘s Lead Teacher with any questions.

**Please remember this is a time for you to spend some one-on-one time with only your MCS child. If you have any specific questions about the classroom or your child, please see your child‘s Lead Teacher to set up a conference time.

Teacher Workday

November 10, 2025

Montessori Children’s School will be closed for students on November 10th, for a teacher work day, allowing educators dedicated time for planning and professional development. 

First Full Day of School

August 28, 2025

August 28th is the first full day of school for Primary and Elementary students. 

Aftercare also starts on the 28th. 

 

Labor Day- No School

September 1, 2025

Montessori Children’s School will be closed on September 1st in observance of Labor Day.  

Family Welcome Picnic

September 12, 2025
3:30 pm-5:00 pm

Please join us Friday, September 12th, for our Annual Welcome Picnic. Festivities will begin at 3:30pm and will go until 5:00pm. 

***Pizza and water will be provided and Pelican’s Snowballs will be on site.

This year’s picnic will be held at the Jacksonville Commons Park, Shelter #1 (The shelter is located behind the Recreation Center, next to the ball fields) from 3:30PM- 5:00PM.

No School for Students

Montessori Children’s School will be closed for students on April 21st for a teacher work day, allowing educators dedicated time for planning and professional development.

MCS will be closed to all students on October 30th and 31st. Lead teachers will be conducting parent teacher conferences on both of these days. 

 

Last Day of School

June 6, 2025

June 6th, is the last day of school for all students. We hope our families have a terrific Summer break.

Winter Weather Update for Tues. December 9, 2025. MCS will have a two hour delay on 12/9/25 for all staff and students.

Rainfall, snow mix, and sub-freezing temperatures expected. overnight.

MCS will be closed from Dec 21st- Jan 2nd. Staff will return on Jan 3rd, and students will return on Jan 6th.

Due to the risk of severe weather, mcs will operate on a slightly earlier than half-day schedule for tuesday, 1/9/24. The early release schedule will be as follows:

ELEMENTARY – 11:15AM

PRIMARY – 11:30AM

STEPPING STONES – 11:45AM

Montessori Children’s School & the MCS Office is closed for Spring Break from Mon., March 25- Fri., March 29, 2024.  The Office will reopen on Mon., April 1, 2024 and students return on Tues., April 2, 2024.
