Family Orientation

August 20, 2026
Two Sessions

Montessori Children’s School will be hosting a required family orientation. Located at the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, 1099 Gum Branch Rd. 

Session 1: 4:30pm-5:55pm
Session 2: 6:10-7:40pm

Adults only. Due to space, please limit to one adult per family. 

Student Open House

August 24, 2026
9:30am-11:45am

As you know we have some special events leading up to the first day. We look forward to greeting you and your child on Wednesday, August 24th from 9:30 am- 11:45am for MCS Open House. Families may come anytime during that window to drop off supplies, meet the classroom staff, and see your child’s beautiful classroom!
 

First Days of School

August 25-26, 2026
Half days for all students

August 25-26th are half days for all students. 

*Note: Stepping Stones and Primary students will select one of the possible half days to attend, whereas Elementary/Adolescent students will all attend both half days.

 

Labor Day - No School

September 7, 2026

MCS will be closed for Labor Day. Students and staff return September 8th.

 

Family Picnic

September 18, 2026
3:30pm-5:00pm

Please join us Friday, September 18th, for our Annual Welcome Picnic. Festivities will begin at 3:30pm and will go until 5:00pm. 

***Pizza and water will be provided.

Teacher Work Day

September 25, 2026
No School for Students

MCS will be closed for a teacher workday on September 25th. 

Indigenous People's Day

October 12, 2026
No School for Students

MCS will be closed for students in observance of Indigenous People’s Day. Staff will be on site for a Teacher Work Day. 

Half Day for Students

October 29, 2026

Students will be released on a early schedule. Please check your emails for release schedule. 

Family conferences will be scheduled in the afternoon. 

Teacher Workday

October 30, 2026
No School for Students

MCS will be closed for students. Lead teachers will conduct family conferences during the day. 

Leads will email out a sign-up. 

Family/ Child Night

November 6, 2026
5:30pm-7:00pm

You are invited to our first Family/Child Night of the 26-27 school year on Friday, November 6th from 5:30-7:00 pm! This is a very special time for MCS students to show their family a few lessons they are currently working on.

Sign-ups will be sent out via email from your child’s lead teacher!

Veteran's Day - No School

November 11, 2026

MCS will be closed in observance of Veteran’s Day. 

 

Half Day for Students

November 24, 2026

MCS students will have a half day on November 24, 2026. Please check your emails for release schedule. 

 

Fall Break

November 25-27, 2026
School Closed

MCS will be closed for fall break from November 25th through November 27th. Students and staff will return on November 30th. 

Annual Decadent December Gala

December 5, 2026
30th Anniversary

Join MCS on December 5th, for our annual silent auction. This year’s event will be held at Meadows Farm and Venue located at 161 Abbott Lane in Maysville.

This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the opening of our main building.

Spirit Week

December 14-18, 2026

An email will be sent out in advance with the spirit week calendar.

Half Day for Students

Winter Break

School Closed

MCS will be closed for Winter Break. Staff will return on January 4, 2027 and students will return on January 5, 2027.
