Indigenous Peoples' Day

October 14, 2024- School Closed

Montessori Children’s School will be closed October 14, 2024, to observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors the cultures and contributions of the indigenous peoples of North America.

Family Information Night

October 18, 2024 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Our teachers will be discussing various topics at each level.  Look for an email from your child’s Lead Teacher  with the specific topic for their program level. The last several minutes will be dedicated to Q & A. Please bring any general questions you have about the classroom. Please save any in-depth questions, or questions directly about your child, for a one on one conversation with your child’s director or directress.

Half Day for Students

October 30, 2024

Montessori Children’s School students will have a half day on October 30th. Lead teachers will be having parent teachers conferences in the afternoon. More information to come from your child’s lead teacher.

Pick Up Times are:
11:30am Elementary, 11:45am Primary, 12:00pm Stepping Stones

Please note, there is no after care on this date. 

 

Teacher Work Day

November 1, 2024 – No School for Students

Montessori Children’s School will be closed for students on November 1st, for a teacher work day, allowing educators dedicated time for planning and professional development. Students can look forward to returning to a refreshed and enriched learning environment the following Monday, November 4th.

Veteran's Day

November 11, 2024- School Closed

Montessori Children’s School will be closed on November 11th to observe Veteran’s Day, honoring the brave men and women who have served and is currently serving their country. This day allows students and staff to reflect on the importance of freedom and pay tribute to the brave individuals who have defended it.

Thanksgiving/ Fall Break


November 27-29, 2024 – School Closed

Montessori Children’s School will be closed November 27th-29th for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. 

Holiday Spirit Week

December 16-20, 2024

Students are invited to participate in MCS’ Holiday Spirit Week!

Teacher Work Day

October 31, 2024- No School for Students

Montessori Children’s School will be closed for students on October 31st for a teacher work day, allowing educators dedicated time for planning and professional development. Lead Teachers will also be hosting their conferences. More information to come from your child’s lead teacher. 

Family/ Child Night

November 8, 2024 – 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Family/Child Night is a very special time for MCS students to show their family a few lessons they are currently working on. Some classrooms may have specific time slots to sign up for. See your child‘s Lead Teacher with any questions.

Please remember this is a time for you to spend some one-on-one time with only your MCS child. If you have any specific questions about the classroom or your child, please see your child‘s Lead Teacher to set up a conference time.

Decadent December

December 6, 2024 – 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm

 

Please join Montessori Children’s school for our 2nd annual Holiday Auction Gala, Saturday, December 6th, from 7pm – 11pm at Copper and Stow, 261 Ben Williams Rd, Jacksonville, NC. Copper and Stow is located on the grounds of Walton Distillery. 

$75 Ticket in Advance or $85 Ticket at the door. Ticket includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, cocktails, and music. To purchase tickets, please click the link below.  Must be 21 to attend.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

January 20, 2024- School Closed

Montessori Children’s School will be closed January 20th, to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his significant role in the Civil Rights Movement. 

Open House

January 31, 2025 5:45pm – 7:15pm

Adults only event, please.

5:45-6:15 pm (Elementary building)- MCS Staff presents: Find out how the programs at MCS can benefit your child both academically and socially and prepare them to excel into adulthood!

6:15-7:15 pm- Open House– Visit your child’s current and next level classroom! This event is for everyone, so invite a friend!

This event is open to the public.

Family/ Child Night

Earth Week

April 22-25, 2025

MCS students will be participating in activities all week in appreciation of Earth Week. We will have an Earth Day Celebration as a school on Friday, April 25th. 

Iowa Testing

May 5-8, 2025

Students in grade 3rd – 8th, are taking the Iowa Test all week.

President's Day

February 17, 2025- School Closed

Montessori Children’s School will be closed February 17th, to observe President’s Day. Presidents’ Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday in February, honoring the birthdays and legacies of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and all U.S. presidents. It serves as a reminder of their contributions to the nation and the principles of democracy.

Teacher Workday

February 28, 2025- No School for Students

Montessori Children’s School will be closed for students on February 28th for a teacher work day, allowing educators dedicated time for planning and professional development. Some MCS staff members will also be traveling to the annual MEPI Conference. 

Half Day for Students

March 20, 2025

Montessori Children’s School students will have a half day on March 20th. Lead teachers will be having parent teachers conferences in the afternoon. More information to come from your child’s lead teacher.

International Night

April 4, 2025- 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

The children will make flags at school or home to represent a  country. Your child’s Directress/ Director will give further information. The child comes dressed in traditional clothing from that country (Please, no Halloween costumes). Attire can be homemade and as simple or in-depth as you would like. .

That evening the child/parent also brings a traditional dish (nut free and shellfish free please) from that country (or can choose a different country) to share with the community.

There is a parade of nations and afterwards, we share in a delicious meal for all the families.

Spring Break

April 14-18, 2025- School Closed

School is closed from April 14th -18th for Spring break. We hope our families have a great week.

Memorial Day

May 26, 2025- School Closed

Montessori Children’s School will be closed May 26th, to observe Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a solemn American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, dedicated to honoring and remembering the brave men and women who have died in military service to the nation. It serves as a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance.

Last Day of School

June 6, 2025

June 6th, is the last day of school for all students. We hope our families have a terrific Summer break.

Closed for
Winter Break

MCS will be closed from Dec 21st- Jan 2nd. Staff will return on Jan 3rd, and students will return on Jan 6th.

We would like to wish all of our MCS Families a very happy, healthy holiday season! Have a wonderful winter break with your loved ones and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2025!

Due to the risk of severe weather, mcs will operate on a slightly earlier than half-day schedule for tuesday, 1/9/24. The early release schedule will be as follows:
