Primary Program

In our Montessori Primary classroom, the environment mirrors a nurturing home. Children work individually or in small groups, cultivating independence, life skills, and a love for learning.

Primary Program

A day filled with playful exploration and learning

  1. Practical Life: Children acquire daily-life skills, promoting independence and motor coordination, including getting dressed, preparing snacks, setting the table, and caring for plants and animals.
  2. Sensorial: Children refine their senses and learn to classify their surroundings, laying the foundation for skills necessary in math, geometry, and language as they develop the ability to classify, sort, and discriminate.
  3. Math: Children engage in hands-on activities to learn numerals, place value, and arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  4. Language: The curriculum includes activities for children to acquire vocabulary, writing, and reading skills. Writing is taught first, and children learn letter sounds, word formation, sentence building, and eventually, reading.
  5. Cultural Studies: Lessons integrate various subjects, such as history, geography, science, art, and music, helping children learn about their community and the world, fostering an appreciation of diversity and respect for all living things.

Montessori Primary Overview

A Montessori Primary classroom resembles a welcoming home rather than a traditional school. You won’t see desks, nor will a teacher stand at the front of the room delivering a lesson to the whole class. Instead, you’ll see children happily working individually or in small groups, at tables or on the floor near small mats that define their own space, using specially designed materials displayed on accessible shelves, while learning self-sufficiency and responsibility in their cozy, child-friendly environment.
