Ms. Darcy is excited to join the MCS community this coming school year! This year marks her 10th year working within a Montessori community. Throughout her Montessori journey, she has held a variety of roles, enjoying each new perspective as a physical education and health specialist, aftercare instructor, lower elementary assistant, and lower elementary guide.
She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Studies at East Carolina University. Her introduction to the Montessori method began after graduation when she moved to the West Coast and accepted a position as the school’s physical education specialist. Quickly, she became curious about the educational approach when she noticed the beautifully designed environments, inviting work in every corner, and observed the excitement and collaboration amongst the students and guides within their studies.
Shortly, she returned to North Carolina with a passion for Montessori education and found another experience as a lower elementary assistant. At the end of the school year, she was offered the opportunity to complete her Lower Elementary Montessori credential at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies. Ms. Darcy returned from training with a reverence for the interconnectedness and developmental progression of the natural world, a new perspective for mathematics, an understanding of language and its mechanics, and an eagerness to spread that knowledge.
Ms. Darcy recently moved to the Crystal Coast from Greenville, NC, and she has been enjoying exploring her new home with her family, including the beach and its surrounding areas. In her free time, she likes to read historical fiction, knit, and prepare for the arrival of another baby girl in the fall.
