Ms. Darcy Toler is entering her second year at Montessori Children’s School (MCS) and serves as the Lower Elementary Level Coordinator and Lead Directress of Lower Elementary West. This year marks her eleventh year working within Montessori communities, where she has served in a variety of roles including Physical Education and Health Specialist, Aftercare Instructor, Lower Elementary Assistant, and Lower Elementary Guide.
Darcy earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Studies from East Carolina University. Her Montessori journey began after moving to the West Coast, where she accepted a position as a school’s Physical Education Specialist. She quickly became captivated by the Montessori approach, observing thoughtfully prepared environments, engaged learners, and meaningful collaboration among students and guides. Inspired by what she witnessed, she returned to North Carolina determined to deepen her understanding of Montessori education.
After serving as a Lower Elementary Assistant, Darcy completed her Lower Elementary Montessori credential through the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies. Her Montessori training strengthened her appreciation for the interconnectedness of all subjects, the developmental progression of the child, and the beauty of cultivating curiosity through purposeful learning experiences.
Darcy is passionate about supporting both students and educators as they grow and thrive. As Lower Elementary Level Coordinator, she is committed to fostering strong classroom communities, mentoring teachers, and helping children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Darcy and her family recently welcomed their third daughter and enjoy exploring their home on the Crystal Coast together. Outside of school, she enjoys reading historical fiction, knitting, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her husband and daughters.
