Ms. Destiny Colon is joining Montessori Children’s School (MCS) for the 2026–2027 school year as the Classroom Floater and Aftercare Coordinator. She brings experience working with children in both public school and early childhood settings, along with a passion for building meaningful relationships and supporting children as they grow into confident, capable learners.
Originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Ms. Destiny earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia before relocating to Jacksonville with her husband, who is stationed at Camp Lejeune. Prior to joining MCS, she worked as a Teacher Assistant with Onslow County Schools and most recently served as a Child and Youth Program Assistant at the Child Development Centers aboard Camp Lejeune. Her love for working with children began at a young age through church programs and youth sports, where she discovered the joy of encouraging children as they learn, grow, and develop confidence.
Ms. Destiny believes that strong relationships with children and families are the foundation of a positive learning environment. She is excited to support students throughout the school day in her role as Classroom Floater and to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children in the Aftercare Program. She looks forward to helping every child feel valued, encouraged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Outside of school, Ms. Destiny enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She loves cooking, baking, curling up with a good book, and challenging herself with games like Wordle, sudoku, and word puzzles. She also enjoys celebrating the holidays and incorporating her Puerto Rican and African American heritage into family traditions.
