Laura attended University of California, Santa Cruz and earned a B.A. in Biology in 1994. After getting married, Laura came to Jacksonville in 1997 to be near her parents who were stationed at Camp LeJeune. Realizing she had a passion for teaching, she got her teaching certification through UNCW in 1999 and Masters in Education in Secondary Education in 2015.
She began teaching public school in 1999 and taught middle school children for 23 years, having retired in 2022. She also teaches children of all ages at Sylvan Learning Center and continued that in retirement. Her passion for teaching continues and she is excited to be starting at MCS in the Lower Elementary Classroom.
Laura raised two children here and enjoys time with her husband and family. Her children are grown with her youngest a student at NC State University. In her free time Laura enjoys cross-stitching, kayaking in the intercoastal waterways, and going to the beach.
